About Grandad
Grandad was born in 1942 in a small town in northern Indiana where he played music in his youth and helped his father with the family business of building houses. After Grandad graduated high school, in a class of 26, he promptly joined and served in the United States Air Force as a aircraft mechanic and crew chief for the F-100 “Super Sabre” defending America’s honor overseas.
Grandad continued his service for America as a civil servant and helped to advance pilot training by advancing simulator and training technologies, building many out of wood. Having worked with wood since he was a small child and having children of his own, during the global economic tightening of the 1970’s, Grandad began making toys for his children in hopes to save money for the family’s dinner table. One version of a big rig diesel tractor-trailer truck was so well built and so popular among Grandad’s kids that it still serves as the model for the toys he makes today. Grandad retired from civil service in the late 1990’s and with the help of his sons set out to make a small toy making business based out of his wood-shop. Now, with the help of the internet, it is possible to bring Grandad’s simple and elegant hand made wooden toys to many, many children all over the world.
With Grandchildren and even Great-Grandchildren of his own Grandad is busier than ever in his toy & wood-working shop. Hand made and hand assembled, every toy Grandad makes passes through his own hands and carries with it his proud heritage and quality.
